FOLK * SONG
Pokarekare Ana

WW1 recruits from Northland took these verses to their army camp at Takapuna, then other soldiers going on leave took them to the East Cape. There Paraire Tomoana modified them in into an action song telling of his 1912 courtship of Kuini Raerena. It is now known and sung world-wide.
